Parasite

I heard a noise in my basement and went downstairs to find a large family, with numerous adults and children. They said they were desperate and had run out of food and supplies. They argued that our very-well-stocked basement could provide for both them and my own family. They were vaguely threatening, somehow suggesting that if I tried to chase them out, violence would ensue.

By this time my wife was calling to me, alarmed by what she'd heard. She insisted we call the police. I said no, arguing that to do so would be dangerous. We agreed that they could stay but they had to wear masks and keep their distance from us.

It wasn't a happy ending. We lived upstairs and they lived downstairs and we were all very nervous about each other.
